Acerca del evento

Every year, thousands of people in Venezuela encounter snakes in both urban and rural areas. Although most of these encounters pose no real danger, fear and misinformation often lead to the unnecessary killing of the animal.
Within the framework of the 1st International Conference on Ophidiology of the Doctorate in Biodiversity of UNELLEZ
We will participate as guest speakers with an analysis based on citizen science data collected between 2021 and 2025.
Our approach goes beyond simply identifying species; we seek to understand the human-snake conflict and the gap between actual medical risk and the fate of these species. The goal is to provide solutions with implications for conservation, environmental education, and public health, promoting informed and responsible responses to encounters with these reptiles.
